In early 2011 Christchurch colleagues Simon Apperley and Ben Dormer formed SOL Shingle Ltd and SOL Screening & Crushing Ltd. These companies were the foundation of a successful aggregate processing and retail business. Building on this sound base, Simon and Ben were joined in 2014 by Richie McCaw, ex-All Black Captain, and Michael Watt, the Christchurch raised, UK based businessman and philanthropist in the establishment of SOL Quarries Ltd.
